Multicultural Clinical Center
In Home Residential Services
An alternative/modified approach to out-of-home placement

Philosophy
We are committed to providing community based options for the treatment of children with severe mental illness who require highly structured, intensive treatment. Our belief is that intensive structured services provided in the home increase the potential for a successful outcome.

Treatment Components
I.H.R.S. is a highly structured evidence-based treatment intervention that focuses on child/family stabilization. This program utilizes therapeutic approaches designed to strengthen coping skills and improve child/family functioning (e.g. CBT, Functional Family approach, Psycho-Ed, Case Management and Intensive Supervision).

A comprehensive team approach is utilized. The treatment team is comprised of the case manager (referring agent), treatment providers, other involved professionals as well as the child and family. This approach allows for maximum flexibility in treatment to respond to the many challenges faced by the family and promotes active participation.

The program places a strong emphasis on a treatment team/family approach.

Four Phase Approach
Phase I: Orientation & Assessment
  • In phase one an overview of the program is provided to both the referring agent and potential client/family. A commitment to the proposed services is established and a pre-test to determine current functional level is administered.
  • The coordination of professional staffings (with all involved professionals) and family team meetings are established.
  • A comprehensive 30 day assessment is completed by a licensed clinician.
Phase II: Implementation
  • In phase two the Family/Individual Service Plan (FISP) is developed in conjunction with client/family.
  • The goal is to identify current family structure/strengths/resources and needs with the premise of a behavioral/ systemic/wrap-a-round foundation.
  • Scheduling of treatment services is developed and tailored to fit the client’s/family’s needs. Services include but are not limited to: ongoing risk assessments, individual/family counseling, psycho-education, intensive supervision and case management.
  • Daily communication is maintained with all treatment professional involved with the case.
  • Monthly status reviews are conducted with staff psychiatrist, treatment team, and family.
Phase III: Maintenance
  • One of the major goals of phase three is to empower the family.
  • Using a strength-based approach, the client/family is educated on strategies that will assist them in addressing the complex needs.
  • The client/family is taught skills on how to identify and connect to community resources.
Note: Daily communication with all involved professionals and monthly status reviews continue.

Phase IV: Termination
  • Within phase four the client/family is able to effectively navigate support resources.
  • The client/family is able to implement skills to effectively maintain/generalize change-primary goals/objectives of the F.I.S.P. have been met.
  • A post-test is administered to determine the client’s/family’s level of functioning
